If Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz has been contacted by Michigan for the vacant coaching job, that’s news to Iowa athletic director Gary Barta.
Internet rumors have been swirling the last two days that Ferentz has been offered the Michigan job. Lloyd Carr retired last Monday after 13 seasons as Michigan’s head coach.
“Our athletic director has not been contacted,” Phil Haddy, Iowa sports information director, said Monday. “I would find it unconscionable that an athletic director from another Big Ten school would be able to visit with a head coach without talking to the AD.”
