The Tigers won’t pick up shortstop Edgar Renteria’s option for next season, team president and general manager Dave Dombrowski said today.
The decision leaves shortstop and catcher as the two open spots in next year’s lineup.
Dombrowski wouldn’t rule out re-signing Renteria as a free agent, but said the club would look at other options.
