Tigers 6, Yankees 5 (5/9/08)
Kenny Rogers hadn’t faced the Yankees in the regular season for four years. Now, he has two wins over them in 11 days.
It fits with the pattern for the Tigers as a team.
Once again, the remedy for what ails the Tigers appears to lie in Yankees pinstripes, even if New York is wearing road grays instead. On Friday, it was Rogers’ six-plus innings of two-run ball and four runs combined from fill-in leadoff man Ivan Rodriguez and little-used utility man Ryan Raburn that did the trick in a 6-5 Detroit victory.
