Fernando Rodney’s return to the disabled list on Tuesday afternoon revived the questions about how the Tigers would handle setup work with a lead in the eighth inning. On Tuesday, however, the Tigers used the eighth to turn a three-run deficit into a tie game. It was in the ninth that Marlon Byrd’s two-run triple off closer Todd Jones sent the Tigers toward their second straight defeat to the Rangers with a 9-6 loss at Comerica Park.
