The Tigers can’t take the World Series trophy back from the Cardinals. But their wins could make a dent in getting them back there.
For the first time in seven World Series rematches since Interleague Play began a decade ago, there was a sweep. In this case, the World Series loser exacted some revenge. Brandon Inge’s go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth preceded a three-run sixth that put away a 6-3 win over the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.
