Jeremy Bonderman allowed two runs in five innings to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 5-4 on Thursday night.
Bonderman, who won 14 games for the Tigers last season, yielded four hits, struck out four and walked three.
Curtis Granderson hit two sacrifice flies, including the winner in the ninth, and Carlos Guillen hit an RBI double for the Tigers.
