Left-hander Kenny Rogers took the mound on a 91-degree night in Georgia — and suddenly it was autumn again at Comerica Park.
In his first start that counted in 2007, Rogers pitched just as he did in three postseason victories last fall in Detroit. He dominated throughout and didn’t allow a run.
Rogers blanked the Atlanta Braves on two hits in six innings Friday night. The Tigers didn’t score until the sixth, when they got five two-out runs off John Smoltz for a 5-0 victory at Turner Field. It was the fifth straight game in which the Tigers batted around in an inning.
