Tigers 4, Indians 7 (5/25/07)
For the first time in this budding American League Central race, the Tigers didn’t have to look to the scoreboard to see how the Indians were faring. They could see it right in front of them, as sure as the nose on their face.
Now, they’re looking up at the Tribe. Casey Blake and Victor Martinez hit solo homers ahead of Josh Barfield’s two-run shot, and Paul Byrd contained Detroit’s offense long enough to send the Tigers back to second place in the division with a 7-4 loss Friday night at a sold-out Comerica Park.
All three Cleveland home runs came against Detroit starter Nate Robertson (4-4), who took his fourth loss in his last five decisions against the Tribe dating back to 2005. The damage started with a familiar tormentor.
