Tigers 3, Red Sox 6 (5/5/08)

Manager Jim Leyland said he wasn’t expecting his offense to flip a switch with the changes they made on Monday so much as for something to develop. He was looking for better at-bats, and to some degree, he got those. In Monday’s case, they improved on a wild night for Red Sox starter Daisuke Matsuzaka. Still, though they drew eight walks in five innings against him, they converted just one of those into a run.

As a result, all they had to show at the end of a day of moves and switches was a 6-3 loss to Boston and a losing streak now at four games.
