Mike Maroth gave the Tigers bullpen a much-needed day of short work by lasting eight innings. Yet it was the first of them that determined his defeat. Ryan Garko’s three-run homer in the opening inning helped open a lead that the Indians battled to hold but never relinquished, sending Detroit to a three-game series sweep with a 5-3 loss Sunday night at Comerica Park.
