Eddie Bonine began his career with three starts in Interleague Play, when he went 2-0 with a 3.98 ERA.
The Tigers right-hander received his indoctrination into American League competition on Wednesday against the Twins, who were not nearly as kind to the 27-year-old rookie as their National League compatriots were.
Bonine went 2 2/3 innings while allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in a 7-0 Tigers loss. Only two of the runs were earned, however, after a costly error by third baseman Carlos Guillen.
