The injury report is a long one, a lot longer than the Detroit Tigers would like. But at least it is sounding better.
Monday’s best news concerned second baseman Placido Polanco, who missed the final three games in Toronto because of a back problem that has bothered him since spring training. An MRI exam performed Sunday in Detroit showed no major damage, and manager Jim Leyland said Monday afternoon that Polanco could return to the lineup as soon as tonight.
“If he’s all right, he’ll play,” Leyland said, after a 5-1 win against the Blue Jays. “They said (the medication) is going to work right away, and he’s going to feel real good.”
