PISTONS NOTEBOOK: Curry returns to Pistons
The team announced that former Piston Michael Curry has been hired as an assistant coach. He replaces Ron Harper, whose two-year contract ended and was not renewed. And to replace former director of player personnel Scott Perry, the Pistons brought in Jeff Weltman, who served as the assistant general manager in 2001-06 with the Denver Nuggets.
Curry most recently worked as the vice president of player development in the NBA’s league office. He played 11 seasons, including two stints in Detroit (1995-97 and 1999-2003). During his playing career, he served as president of the NBA Players Association. He has a master’s degree in sports management from Virginia Commonwealth.
