Andy Miller, the agent for Delfino, said he and the Pistons came to a mutual agreement last week that Delfino’s window of time for success in Detroit had come to a close.
Miller said he approached Pistons team president Joe Dumars first to initiate the conversation but that Dumars agreed it was time to part ways after three seasons.
The Pistons traded Delfino to the Toronto Raptors for two future second-round draft picks.
“They liked Carlos, and they know he had given them everything he had in his tenure there,” Miller said. “But it was time for him to move on. It had become stagnant in Detroit. … They want to see him do well, and there was no negativity about it.”
