The Pistons made an expected move Monday, extending power forward Antonio McDyess’ contract through the 2009-10 season.
In June, McDyess elected to pick up the final season on his contract, forgoing a run on the free-agent market. The extension keeps him off the market until the 2010-11 season, when he will be 36.
McDyess is set to earn $6.3 million this season. Under the league’s collective bargaining agreement, he was eligible for a salary increase up to 10.5% each season under the extension. That would be $6.96 million in 2008-09 and $7.7 million in 2009-10. The raises will be slightly less than that.
