Roy Williams has had some problems with flight schedules and keeping dates straight, but his grasp of contract numbers is on the money.
Williams has missed some of the Lions’ voluntary offseason workouts this year. But unlike some other high-profile NFL players who have skipped their team’s organized practices because of contract issues, Williams insists his absences are not related to finances.
Williams is on the last year of the five-year contract he signed when the Lions drafted him in the first round out of Texas in 2004. He would like to sign a long-term deal but isn’t making any demands about it.
