Marinelli questions own decision prior to Eagles game

In the aftermath of the Lions 56-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Lions head coach Rod Marinelli questioned his own decision in the week leading up to that game. Marinelli took the players out of pads last week because they were coming off a very physical and grueling win over the Minnesota Vikings.
“It bothered me, it really did, Marinelli said. “I always evaluate myself. We werent ready … if were not coming out full-steam, thats on me 100 percent. Its not their fault, its my fault. I take that responsibility. I did look at it. Its a little early in the year to get out of pads. Its not what Im about, either. I just felt with the Minnesota game going into overtime, that was my thinking behind it. I look back now and we were a little bit high with pad level and maybe I sent the wrong message. I tried to make sure it was right, but I mightve sent the wrong message, too…”
