Cherilus agrees to five-year deal with Lions

Gosder Cherilus, the first-round draft pick from Boston College, missed the first team meeting of training camp Wednesday night, but he didn’t miss much else. Cherilus has agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Detroit Lions and is expected to be on the field for the team’s first training camp practice Thursday morning.

Cherilus will start camp as the No. 2 right tackle to veteran George Foster but is expected to be in competition for the starting job by the end of camp.
