A lot of roster changes on tap for Lions

The roster carnage will begin by Saturday at the latest. That’s because three veterans are due roster bonuses that the team will not pay: left guard Ross Verba ($2.5 million), defensive end James Hall ($500,000) and tight end Marcus Pollard ($250,000).
Other veterans who will likely be gone by March 19 — the first day of the team’s off-season workouts — include cornerback Dre Bly and defensive end Marcus Bell. There are a slew of unrestricted free agents, including fullback Cory Schlesinger, safety Terrence Holt and guard Rick DeMulling, who will not be offered contracts.
