Lions release Titus Young

The Detroit Lions have parted ways with troubled wide receiver Titus Young.

Young, a second-round draft pick in 2011, has been disciplined multiple times in the past 12 months. Most recently, Young was told to stay away from the team facility because he intentionally lined up wrong in a Week 14 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Lions place Titus Young Sr. on IR, ending his season

Detroit placed Young on injured reserve today, which ends his tumultuous season.

The move is somewhat odd because even though Young has battled a knee injury this season, he was not listed on Detroit’s injury report last week. Lions coach Jim Schwartz did not mention Young’s injury during Monday’s press conference, but the team succeeded in its main goal of not having to deal with their troubled receiver for the rest of this season. (MLive)

Lions WR Titus Young sent home again – future with team in jeopardy

Young has been unable to stay out of trouble this season after a series of run-ins with members of the Lions organization. He was sent home for the second time this year after the Green Bay game on November 18th, but allowed back at practice last week.

However, Young’s behavior did not change, and not only was he banned from the sidelines of Detroit’s recent loss against the Indianapolis Colts, he may no longer be a part of the team.

“Titus will not part of our wide receiver mix (this Sunday),” Schwartz said. “He’s not with the team right now. If I have any further updates, I’ll let you guys know … He’s not going to practice. He’s not with the team right now.” (MLive)
