The Tigers and Brad Penny have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, MLB.com has learned. The deal is pending a physical.Foxsports.com reported early Tuesday morning that the one-year deal will be worth $3 million in base salary, plus incentives. The Tigers have a policy of not confirming an agreement until a physical is completed.
Jhonny Peralta said last week that he wasn’t considering any options other than the Detroit Tigers, and the hard-hitting shortstop has received the multi-year deal he wanted from the club.
Peralta and the Tigers reached agreement on a two-year contract for $11.25 million with a club option for a third year that was announced today by Detroit.
Tracy McGrady has agreed to a one-year, $1.35 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, a source told ESPN.com.
McGrady played in just 30 games last season for the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks. He had major surgery on his right knee in the middle of the 2008-09 season.
The Detroit Lions announced they have signed unrestricted free-agent cornerback Dre’ Bly to a two-year deal.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Bly, 33, played for the Lions in 2003-06. He was traded to Denver following the 2006 season for two players and a draft pick.
