Earlier this month, in an interview with ESPN.com's Scoop Jackson, Iverson said that he was lied to about his role on multiple occasions by Curry, insisting that Curry assured him that Iverson would always be a starter after his arrival from Denver in November in a trade for Chauncey Billups. Hamilton made the same assertions about being misled by Curry in a recent sitdown with ESPN.com, illuminating the depths of the disconnect between Curry and his veterans. The tension ultimately convinced Pistons president Joe Dumars that he had to fire Curry on July 1 after only one season, when it became apparent that Curry regaining respect in the locker room was unlikely.

Nothing clicked with the Pistons. With Iverson on the court, their offense often degenerated into 1-on-5 sets, and Curry could never figure out how to incorporate him. In 54 games, Iverson averaged a career-low 17.4 points on 41.6 percent shooting, 4.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds. "He went there, and he couldn't really trust what people had told him," said Gary Moore, Iverson's business manager and grade-school football coach. "People in Detroit weren't very truthful with him."

CBSSports.com has learned that the Bulls and Pistons may yet revisit Detroits agreement with Ben Gordon and instead investigate a sign-and-trade that would send Allen Iverson to Chicago. Discussions have not yet reached the highest levels of both organizations, but the revised look at how Gordon goes from Chicago to Detroit would benefit Gordon and the Bulls. Gordon would get an extra year, and thus more money, by signing with the Bulls and getting traded. The Bulls, who currently are getting nothing for losing him, would get Iverson -- a fading future Hall of Famer who would get to finish his career in a major market as long as hes willing to accept a secondary role. Its a farfetched scenario, and not everyone involved would be on board -- particularly the Pistons...A person familiar with the situation said the Pistons would flat-out refuse to entertain a sign-and-trade for Gordon unless it provided significant savings. The Bulls, too, may not be eager to do business with Gordon, whose agent did not give the team a chance to match Detroits offer.

Greektown casino spokesman Riley Meredith said Iverson has not been banned from the casino, nor did he know if Iverson has ever been warned about improper behavior at the casino. And MGM Grand Detroit spokesman Jamaine Dickens also said Iverson has not been banned from that casino and added he is unaware of any behavior problems involving the athlete at MGM Grand.

Allen Iverson has gone from being a one-man economic stimulus plan for the city's downtown casinos to persona non grata. He has spent a ton of money down there, but recently he's been banned from both MGM and Greektown casinos. The NBA is looking into a disturbance at Greektown that involved one of Iverson's body guards. Iverson may have been trying to act as a peacemaker but his body guard was involved in some kind of tussle. Iverson, though, has been banned mostly for his boorish behavior. He is a bad loser, and he loses a lot, often throwing his chips or cards at the dealer. He has been warned about improper behavior at the tables repeatedly. He is often loud and disruptive, according to witnesses, rude to dealers, other players and the wait staff.

The Pistons’ portion of Allen Iverson’s Hall of Fame career has ended. And not with the hoisting of a championship banner, as the guard talked about when joining the team in November, but with a press release from Joe Dumars late Friday afternoon. Dumars, the president of basketball operations who orchestrated the Chauncey Billups-for-Iverson trade two games into the season, said Iverson would miss the final seven games and the playoffs because of his back. Iverson, 33, will be a free agent after this season and after the disaster of 2008-09 there is almost no chance the Pistons would want him back next season.

Iverson complained about his minutes on Tuesday after playing 18 against Cleveland. He admitted that he does not like the new role after playing 17 in a 111-98 loss to the Nets on Wednesday. "I'm in a position now that I've never been in my whole life," Iverson said. "It's harder than I thought it would be. With the back injury, I have to sit out at the start, then go in, then sit again. It's tough to really get going. I take my hat off to the guys who can come off the bench and be effective. It's tough for me. I'm struggling with it." Iverson, who was acquired from Denver for Chauncey Billups in an early season trade, said he would not accept being a reserve next season.
