Scherzer delivered seven shutout innings while yielding four hits and two walks. He struck out 10 batters, marking the 10th time this season he’s fanned nine or more.

Miguel Cabrera backed Scherzer’s effort with two RBIs, including a solo home run in the first inning for his 30th of the season. The opposite-field shot to the corner made him the first Tiger to hit 30 or more homers in five consecutive seasons — just a day after he became the third Tiger to collect 100 or more RBIs in five straight years. Cabrera also tagged an RBI single in the fifth, finishing the series 6-for-13 with five runs driven in. (MLB.com)
