Tigers 5, Indians 3: Scherzer helps Tigers restore order in Cleveland
When the Indians mounted one more scoring threat off him in the sixth, Scherzer was at his best. Brantley doubled with one out and stole third base, setting up a potential sacrifice fly situation. The Tigers had enough of a lead to play their infield back, but Scherzer moved ahead before overpowering Carlos Santana into a popout to third base.
From there, Scherzer needed just three pitches to retire Travis Hafner, ending the inning with a 99-mph fastball on the outside corner for a called third strike. It was the same pitch with which he ended his last outing to beat the Angels last Thursday at Comerica Park. (MLB.com)
